Les débuts d'un théâtre en province
Well before the construction of the first theater building in Liège (1740), performances of musical theater had taken place in the city. In the early 19th c., operatic became a large-scale enterprise. The management of actors, musicians, dancers, and other business personnel was codified just as it would have been in any other business. Issues of repertoire and censorship are discussed, and the day-by-day program for November and December 1820 is reproduced in the appendix ; Genèse du théâtre d'opéra de Liège inauguré en 1820
