International audience ; Abstract: Surveys carried out at the highest point of the vast plateau of “Grand Champ” (municipalities of Mazée/Niverlée, Belgium), allowed for the discovery, in the early 1980s, of a large Roman site. The occupied area, the presence of numerous fragments of architectural terra cotta, the collected material and the local context all point towards it having been a rural type of villa. In the absence of any excavations, only the material evidence can provide an indication on the evolution of the site: it appeared at the end of the second century after which the site was intensely occupied from the third to the mid-fourth centuries, likely with an extension into to the fifth century. The ceramic materials are characterized by the abundance of late sigillata and by numerous fragments of dolia, used for storage. However, unturned ceramics are very poorly represented despite their normally being an important component of the regional imperial dish-set. ; Des prospections menées au point culminant du vaste plateau ondulé de Grand Champ (communes de Mazée/Niverlée) ont permis la localisation, au début des années 1980, d’un vaste habitat romain. La superficie occupée, la présence de nombreux fragments de terre cuite architecturale, le matériel récolté et le contexte local plaident en faveur d’un site rural de type villa. En l’absence de fouille, seul le mobilier peut fournir quelques éléments sur l’évolution du site : apparition à une date avancée dans le IIe siècle, occupation intense du IIIe jusqu’au milieu du IVe siècle avec un probable prolongement dans le Ve siècle. Le matériel céramique se caractérise par l’abondance de la sigillée tardive et par de nombreux fragments de dolia destinés au stockage. En revanche la céramique non tournée est très mal représentée alors qu’elle constitue une importante composante du vaisselier régional d’époque impériale.
