Van de Velde is surrounded by his own pictures and photographs of his work (Esche house in Chemnitz, sale-room for the Havana Company in Berlin), on the left is a model of a theatre auditorium, on the desk in the foreground are designs for the deluxe edition of Friedrich Nietzche's "Also sprach Zarathustra" (Leipzig, 1908), on the drawing board leaning against the desk probably a drawing for alterations to the Landesmuseum in Weimar.
