The experience of the Network of Capacity Building Centers for Integrated Coastal Management (CCC-MIC) is exposed, as an output to the results of environmental education in Phase III of the UNDP-GEF Sabana-Camagüey Project, and highlights the importance that these centers have in the development of capacities in workers in the tourism, fishing and agroforestry sectors, and in coastal communities, in terms of biodiversity conservation, Integrated Coastal Management and Environmental Management. The “target groups” are basically workers in these sectors, women, teachers, primary school children and decision makers. The CCC-MIC have promoted the integration of efforts at the local level, in order to provide alternatives and knowledge to achieve the protection and conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable management of natural resources in the coastal areas of the Sabana-Camagüey ecosystem, through of training actions, coordinated with the organizations of these prioritized sectors. The CCC/MIC are in charge of developing activities with the communities, through methods of popular environmental education. Each municipality has a coordinating team made up of representatives of those prioritized sectors, CITMA, local governments, and the education sector. Specialized NGOs and other important sectors of the economy.
