"Bombed out of the Cally": Wartime experiences of Frederick & Ellen Heather

Contributor's father, Fred, was evacuated out of London during the war. Fred ended up staying with a local newsagent in the place/community where he was evacuated. Story about bomb blowing up Air Raid Shelter in Summertown. Father later went on to serve with the Army in Palestine in 1947. Was given wooden cigarette case as gift by German POW [Not photographed - to follow up]. Mother, Ellen, born in Glasgow and brought to London when young in 1930s. She spoke of being "bombed out of the Cally" (Caledonian Road, Islington). Also survived being strafed by German aircraft.
