Daddy's letters home

Dale had brought in a 20-page booklet of his father's drawings, that his father had sent to his sons (Dale and younger brother Rodney) while on active service in WW2. Dale's father was called up in 1942. He crossed over to France on D-day +6 (corrected from D-day +2). Dale's mother put the drawings into a book along with postcards, cuttings and letters. Dale was 2 when his father was called up. His father was born in 1906 and was in the Royal Engineers (Railway division) as a lorry driver. He was therefore 36 when called up.
