Luftwaffe bombing raid in dying days of the war
My father, Neville Edwards (38 Group RAF), told a story that, very near the end of the war, when they were expecting a cessation of hostilities any day, he was stationed at an airbase in Holland. It was early in the morning and he was inside the house where he was quartered, on the outskirts of the airfield, washing and shaving. At this point, the Luftwaffe made one last flight over the airfield and shot everyone in sight. Neville and the Red Cross workers lined up at least 8 dead RAF men.
