Arising from the reflections of the American philosopher Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914), Semiotics, or General Theory of Signs, makes it possible to appreciate different ways of how language represents the world. The study of language allows us to understand the way we express interpretations made throughout life. Among the main legacies of Peirce in his classification of signs which is highlighted in this work, is a second trichotomy, which distinguishes in Icons, Indexes and Symbols. In this sense, this work analyzes how these categories occur in the defined corpus using song by Brazilian composer Chico Buarque de Hollanda: “Paratodos” (1993). It is highlighted, in this analysis, as indexical, iconic and symbolic forms of representation, and it is determined how these concepts are manifested in the author's work.
