With this issue of The Reformed Review we depart from our usual format to honor a retiring colleague. Its planning and production have been a pleasure, and we believe that it will be warmly received by our readers. They will like it because of the variety and quality of the articles and because of the occasion for their appearance. We, entrusted with the work, have enjoyed it for professional and personal reasons. John H. Piet, to whom this number is dedicated, has been a member of the seminary faculty for almost a quarter of a century, and we count him an esteemed colleague and friend. Before assuming his post as Dosker-Hulswit Professor of English Bible and Missions at the seminary, he was a member of the American Arcot Mission of the Reformed Church in America, stationed in Vellore, South India. During those years he was in regular correspondence with persons at the home base so that his activity in behalf of the Kingdom on the other side of the globe was well known here. He worked diligently there, just as he was to do here in study, writing, and teaching.
