The one whom we honor, Professor M. Eugene Osterhaven, could be described in many ways: a devout believer, an active churchman, a Christian naturalist, a learned scholar, and a dedicated teacher. His theology could also be described as evangelical, irenical, experiential, and pastoral. He is all these things and many more- such as loyal and loving husband and father—but the one term that best captures his life and work, his Weltanschauung (world and life view) is: Reformed theologian. Such a designation in itself does not tell us very much for the word "Reformed" is quite elastic. Hence the primary purpose of this essay will be to show in what sense Professor Osterhaven is Reformed and how he has developed that viewpoint in his own theology.
