Departing from the analysis of documents and the specialized bibliography, this dissertation studies the divergences existing between the Sephardic Diaspora communities of Bayonne, in Southern France, and Amsterdam, in Holland. We were thus able to observe the formation of these communities and the mechanisms that kept them together, as well as examine the identitary question that existing in all paths taken by the members of “the Nation”. We also studied the missionary (or rejudaizing) attempts existing among those communities, intently observing how Rabi Moisés Rafael de Aguilar understood and led that process.
