The article summarises the content of training and identifies the specifics of the work of educators in Belgian preschool education institutions. It has been established that in Belgium, the integrated training of preschool teachers and primary school teachers is carried out by Higher Pedagogical Colleges, which equip future specialists with knowledge in the field of education science, media and computer science, foreign languages, mathematics, natural sciences, and introduce future preschool teachers to the peculiarities of organising music, physical, labour and family education of preschool children.The study shows that in Belgium there are clear criteria for teacher educators. It is established that these criteria are divided into universal and functional. The universal criteria include: the educator's willingness to make decisions and take responsibility; the ability to show respect when communicating with others, to think critically, to find opportunities to expand and improve professional competencies, to plan and achieve goals, to work in a team, to adapt to changing educational requirements, to be a lifelong learner; responsibility. The leading functional requirements are: the ability of the educator to manage the process of learning and development, to perceive new ideas and research projects, to cooperate with parents, to act as carriers of culture; organizational skills.It has been found that the specificity of the activities of preschool teachers in Belgium is that they integrate the functions of both educators and primary school teachers.The article also identifies the types of preschool education institutions and states that preschool education is not compulsory. The study shows that children from 3 months of age are admitted to preschool institutions and stay there until the age of 6.
