Impact of growth rate on the mechanical properties of Douglas-fir grown in Wallonia (Southern Belgium)

Timber is traditionally the main purpose of Douglas-fir in Europe. However, some uncertainties remain concerning the sylviculture that should be applied in order to maximise girth growth rate (GR) without affecting the good mechanical properties of the wood.
