The 50 % remaining forest is subject to grazing. ; En este estudio nos enfocamos en la Palma Real Sabal pumos, endémica de la región de Tierra Caliente en Michoacán con la finalidad de obtener bases demográficas y sociales sobre el estado actual de su población, ya que es ampliamente utilizada para la elaboración de diversos utensilios y artesanías. Su área de distribución es limitada a 561 Km2, sugiriendo que la palma tiene rareza geográfica. Además, la mitad del territorio de distribución de S. pumos está degradado por actividades de agricultura (32%) y pastizales (18%). El 50% restante es bosque sujeto a pastoreo.
