Incorrect disposal of cooking oil is one of the problems that causes various environmental damage, such as soil, water and air pollution. Generally these problems occur due to the lack of information of the population with respect to the impacts that these residues cause to the environment. Environmental education practices are ways to inform and educate the public about issues related to improper disposal of cooking oil. Thinking about this problem, a work was carried out in the municipality of Panambi - RS to promote the environmental education of the population regarding the correct disposal of used cooking oil. In the first stage, a research was carried out to evaluate the destination of cooking oil in the community of a district of the municipality, through the application of questionnaires. In the second stage, a lecture was held with the community related to the theme, informing the population about the problems caused to the environment through incorrect disposal of cooking oil and ways to recycle the oil, in order to mitigate the environmental impacts generated by oil. Also a workshop was held to manufacture homemade soap in order to carry out a recycling of used cooking oil. Finally, it was delivered folders related to the theme in a popular market of the municipality, with the intention of disseminating information to other communities in the municipality. It is concluded that the work stimulated a greater learning of the participants in relation to the subject, since the recycling of cooking oil contributes to the conservation of the environment, thus promoting a more sustainable development. ; A Educação Ambiental é um método que busca ações da população que visam à conservação do meio ambiente.
