The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of low and high glycemic indexed breakfast, on daytime appetite, saturation situations, food preferences and consumption, between the obese and slighty overweight, 10-18 years old male and female adolescents whom applied to Serdarlı Healthy Nutrition and Dietetics Center, Serdarlı, Famagusta, Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. According to the needs of the induvidual, the breakfast of the diet, planned according to the energy to be taken daily with the same energy and macro nutrient pattern in the high glisemic index group (n=18) and low glisemic index group (n=18). The taste of the food questioned by Hedonic Scale The individuals were assessed by hunger, satiety, the feeling of saturation, oily, salty, sweety, sour food selection, food consumption record for one day, VAS score and 24 hour food consumption frequency record. GI low group (VAS score: 2,61±0,43) is less hungry during the day than the GI high group (VAS score: 5,10±0,76). The saturation status of adolescents is the same in both groups and the consumption desire of adolescents’ favourite foods is low in GI low group compared to GI high group. As a result in obese adolescent individuals, GI low nutrition reduces appetite and increases the level of satiety and keeps the taste and positive emotional state at the upper levels. In onclusion, the correct approach is not energy alone, but the regulation of lifestyle by incorporating physical activity as a whole from other social and physological aspects of other dietary components (glisemic index and lood, macro nutrient content etc.).
