This article analyses German language teachers’ attitudes towards reading and literature in Dutch schools. A survey among teachers revealed learning objectives, teaching methods and the frequency with which literature is taught in the lower classes of Dutch secondary schools. It also revealed how the teachers would like to improve the curriculum.
