Monochrome

Bartels poses Monochrome as an "exhibition in a book," wherein each chapter is focused on a different subject: bread, meat, and "outside" or the natural environment. Through the use of photography, lithography and color Bartels alters the viewer's visual perception of the everyday or "daily routine."; Two booklets, one accordion book, one poster, 6 loose cards, and a colophon are enclosed in a chip-board portfolio tied with ribbon.
