Netherlands in Labyrinth of European Integration

The position of citizens and political leadership of the Netherlands towards European integration in current circumstances is examined. 13 years after the «no» at the European Constitution referendum, the Netherlands could replace the United Kingdom as a «main obstructionist force» in the EU, but it still remains a careful eurooptimist, providing that further enlargement of the EU does not go too far, supranational rules are strictly applied to the new member states, and the European Commission stays a neutral supervisor
