In this article I discuss the solidarity activities in Portugal and the Netherlands in the course of the process of decolonization and independence of Lusophone Africa. Firstly, I present the socio-political transformations in the Netherlands during the 1960s and the radical change in Portugal, from Salazar's dictatorship to democracy.
