This article deals with the economic foundation of the criticaltheory presented by Guy Debord in “The society of the spectacle” (1967). Atthis point, the fundamental thesis of this theory is that advanced capitalismwould have dominated the crisis tendencies through State action. This actionwould not express the autonomy of politics over the economy, but rather theautonomous movement of the fetishist economy acting consciously in the State.Following Debord, the article tries to show how this theoretical conceptionretakes the philosophical terms of Rosa Luxemburg and Eduard Bernstein’sdebate on the capitalist crisis, in the beginning of the 20th century, positioningitself in regard to this issue in a very unique way. ; Este artigo trata do fundamento econômico da teoria crítica apresentada por Guy Debord em “A sociedade do espetáculo” (1967). Nesse ponto, a tese fundamental dessa teoria é que o capitalismo avançado teria dominado as tendências à crise pela atuação estatal. Essa atuação não expressaria a autonomia da política sobre a economia, mas, antes, o movimento autônomo da economia fetichista atuando conscientemente no Estado. Acompanhando Debord, o artigo tenta mostrar como essa concepção teórica retoma os termosfilosóficos do debate de Rosa Luxemburgo e Eduard Bernstein sobre a crise capitalista, no início do século XX, posicionando-se de uma maneira muito própria diante dessa questão.
