Mobilité quotidienne et ancrage résidentiel. Différenciation des pratiques spatiales et des représentations sociales selon la structure urbaine. L'exemple du Luxembourg.

Because of the phenomenon of congestion and pollution they imply, daily movements have become a major stake of urban development. This research apprehends daily mobility within an interdisciplinary geo-psycho-social approach and suggests considering space not only as a simple support of movements, but as one of the determiners of individual behaviors. In order verify the hypothesis of a spatial differentiation of both practices and social representations of mobility; a survey has been carried out near 600 residents of Luxemburg, on the basis of a spatially stratified sample, so allowing observ... In order verify the hypothesis of a spatial differentiation of both practices and social representations of mobility; a survey has been carried out near 600 residents of Luxemburg, on the basis of a spatially stratified sample, so allowing observing inter-zones differences. From the analysis of the life spaces (with spatial analysis), and social representations (through the analysis of similarities), the results show a behavioral gradient where one passes from a city center which implies multimodal practices and varied housings to a sub-urban then rural zone where the house/car model remains largely dominating both in terms of practices and representations. Beyond the differentiation of behaviors, the results bring to light two levels of tensions (carrying on one hand, on the practices/representations couple, and on the other hand, on spatial residential/daily mobility dialectic) from which polarities differ also spatially. From these tensions appear processes of dissonance and adaptation concerning, according to their nature, the practices andor the representations, and aiming at reducing these tensions. In the light of these processes, behaviors are envisaged as dynamics of adaptation to the geographical, social and psychological contexts. Such a reading of behaviors brings us to reconsider the concepts of choice and arbitration, towards the tensions and adaptation processes, to try to identify control levers allowing inflecting behaviors in an optic of sustainable development. ; En raison des phénomènes de congestion et de pollution qu'ils impliquent, les déplacements quotidiens sont devenus un enjeu majeur du développement urbain. Cette recherche appréhende la ...
