Triumphal Entry of Dom Joao de Castro in Goa

One of a series of tapestries woven in Brussels to illustrate the feats of D. Joao de Castro. In 1547, his victory in Diu against the Ottomans was commemorated with a triumphal arch in Goa, it was replaced two years later by a more permanent structure, depicted in this tapestry.
