Cross-cultural studies have inherent challenges as researchers from different cultural backgrounds attempt to make sense of similar-seeming material in unfamiliar contexts and communicate seemingly-obvious aspects of their own culture to outsiders (Clarke, 2013; Osborn, 2004).
