In recent debates in analytic philosophy of religion, Alvin Plantinga and Nicholas Wolterstorff often characterize the Reformed tradition as opposed to natural theology. While this does not accurately describe the Reformed tradition as a whole, Plantinga and Wolterstorff's statement is appropriate in describing Dutch Reformed theologians such as Bavinck, Kuyper, and Dooyeweerd, often referred to as neo-Calvinists. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the rejection of natural theology by Dutch Reformed theologians, investigating the theological and philosophical reasons that led to such a position. Ultimately, it will be argued that although a Calvinist may embrace the proposal of a Christian philosophy, as suggested by the neo-Calvinists, they do not necessarily need to reject all possibilities of natural theology, as is well demonstrated in Plantinga's Reformed epistemology.
