This database forms the basis of the charts and figures in the book: Knowledge, Patents, Power: The Making of a Patent System in the Dutch Republic (Leiden: Brill, 2021). doi: https://doi-org.ezproxy.uio.no/10.1163/9789004320420 The database consists of three sheets ("patents", "inventors", "inventions") that can be linked by using the Unique Document Number in Column A. The abbreviations on various sheets are explained in more detail on the first sheet entitled "Codes". The database is based on the excellent work by Gerard Doorman, information from a number of other source collections, as well as own research in the archives of the States General and the States of Holland.
