Passglass

A clear, yellowish-green glass with a very unusual shape: a cylindrical base rising to an octagonal rim. It is decorated with milled blue glass thread, wound about ten times around the glass. The rings that are formed by this decorative motif are known as 'passes': in fact the vessel is known as a passglass. This passglass was made in Germany or the Netherlands in the 17th century.
