Study of Dutch Jewish Composers of the Holocaust Period Including Contemporaries of Leo Smit

Through research done on site in Amsterdam and The Hague, The Netherlands, this project will bring to light music by Dutch Jewish composers which has been almost entirely forgotten since the years following World War II. Musicians like Leo Smit and Rosy Wertheim were highly educated and had begun successful careers as composers, conductors and performers when the Nazis came to power and banned Jewish musicians from performing their music in public.
