International audience ; Though out of context, two perforated ‘hammer-axes’ made of hard stone were discovered in the part of the Calestienne between Couvin and Givet. Uncovered in 1900 but still unpublished, Chooz’s copy belongs to the ‘Muntendam group’, more specifically to the Mu2 type as defined by Achterop S. A. and Brongers J. A. in 1979. To the initial suggestion of a battle-axe from the ‘Standvoetbekerkultuur’, we prefer a more recent production, dating to the Iron Age. The weakness of the hafting shows that this type of objet was held in place to be used as ‘splitting wedge’. In the Middle Ages, similar tools were part of the miners’ and metallurgists’ toolboxes. ; La portion de la Calestienne située entre Couvin et Givet a livré ‒ hors contexte malheureusement ‒ deux “haches-marteaux” perforées, en pierre dure. Celle de Chooz, découverte vers 1900 mais toujours inédite, appartient au “groupe de Muntendam”, plus précisément au type Mu2 défini par S. H. Achterop et J. A. Brongers en 1979. À l'hypothèse d'une hache de combat relevant de la “Standvoetbekerkultuur”, nous privilégions une datation beaucoup plus récente, à l'âge du Fer. La faiblesse de l'emmanchement montre que ce type d'objet était simplement maintenu en place en tant que “coin à fendre”. Au Moyen Âge, des outils identiques font partie de la panoplie des mineurs et des métallurgistes.
