This contribution is a journey through the narrative and poetic works of the French language Belgian author, Corinne Hoex (1946), focusing on the sea, a central theme ever-present in her writing. In the selected novel, Ma robe n’est pas froissée (2008) as well as her poetic writings La Nuit, la mer (2009) and Les Mots arrachés (2015), we analyze the underlying role that the sea plays in the identity of the narrator and in his perception of painful family relationships.
