This working paper presents an overview of the positions of three French-speaking Belgian political parties (MR, PS and Ecolo)on unconditional basic income. Following a grey litterature review, it shows the persistent relevance of the left-right cleavage. This means that the universal revenue idea, rather than transcending political divisions, is underlining them under a new angle. One should always care for re-inscribing the BI debate within the evolution of social security systems and the broader context. The measure taken alone has little analytical value, one should thus analyse it in the light of the bigger social protection picture.
