This paper will demonstrate the usefulness of submunicipal electoral data based on the study of voting behaviour illustrated by far right wing votes and non voting in Wallonia. After describing how to develop such a study of voting behaviour which includes voters and their geographical location, we will point out methods to obtain data. This element will underline a statistical link between voting and socio-economic data. The study will enable us to make principal components analyses for Charleroi and Mons in order to analyse socio-economic characteristics of “protest territories”. This analysis will be followed by a submunicipal cartography carried out with unofficial data.
