Leopoldamys sabanus (Thomas, 1887). Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., 20:269. TYPE LOCALITY: Malaysia, Sabah, Mt. Kinabalu. DISTRIBUTION: Bangladesh; Thailand; Indochina; Malay Peninsula; Sumatra; Borneo; Java; smaller islands on the Sunda Shelf. COMMENT: Includes macrourus which has priority but is based on a specimen of uncertain origin; formerly included siporanus; see Musser, 1981, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat.
