Objective: To glimpse in Ernesto Sábato's work his option for the human, a matter that will imply a critique of the modus operandi of scientific knowledge and the consequent vindication of the literary work of art. Method: Textual hermeneutics will allow us to enter the symbolic universe of the work of art, thus delving into its intratextual dynamics, its indeterminacies and the reflections that it propitiates on an irreducible and complex human condition. Results: By reading Ernesto Sabato's work, particularly works such as Uno y el universo, Hombres y engranajes, Heterodoxia, El túnel, Sobre héroes y tumbas and Abaddón, el exterminador, we find a point of reconciliation, which does not wield manifestations of logical thought such as scientific knowledge, with that intuitive, abyssal, landscape and feminine component within which the characters of his novels are agitated: an in-between, an insurmountable duality, which claims the logical and the magical as effective options for approaching the human condition. Conclusion: It was possible to conclude that Sabati's work traces a path, an in-between: of thelogical thought, law, axioms, systems of thought and the regularity of abstractions, to theabstractions, to the magical thought, of the irremediable dreamer and nonconformist with the laws of iron logic and that, however, does not deny its double condition: it thinks and dreams, suffers and desires; and this same duality we need at all times, because without it we die, or because of the dehumanizing reification, or because of the extreme illogicality. ; Objetivo: Vislumbrar en la obra de Ernesto Sábato su opción por lo humano, asunto que implicará una crítica al modus operandi del conocimiento científico y la consiguiente reivindicación de la obra de arte literaria.
