Tav. 98: Veduta di Racconigi (View of Racconigi) ; The Castello di Racconigi was built around the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th by the marquises of Saluzzo. Over the course of the centuries the building underwent various changes of ownership. In the 16th century the Savoys transformed it from a fortress into a residence and Ludovico D'Acaja and his court moved into the castle. In the following century the castle was subject to significant rebuilding works directed by Guarino Guarini, who also began work on the park in collaboration with the French architect Andre Le Not...
