Motifs of Iranun Siambitan Weaving in Sabah

Textile weaving is a prominent activity among Iranun women. There is a lack of research on Iranun siambitan weaving motifs. The objective of this paper is to highlight the motifs in the weaving and its underlying meaning. Data was obtained through observation and interview. The researcher will use Ferdinand de Saussure theory on sign and symbol to analyze the outcome. The outcome is categorized into three areas, flora, fauna and geometric motifs.
