The presence of Surinamese Indigenous peoples in the Netherlands is not a new nor recent phenomenon. Although in small numbers, Surinamese Indigenous peoples have crossed the ocean (both voluntarily and involuntary) and made their way to the Netherlands throughout the centuries.
