Developments in the Dutch urban system on the basis of flows

In this study, the 1992, 1995, 1999, and 2002 Netherlands National Travel Surveys are employed to examine the change in the configuration of the urban system on the basis of commute and leisure flows between twenty-three Daily Urban Systems (DUSs). The results for commuting flows provide some evidence of smaller differences in the importance of DUSs in the system over the ten-year period; the interaction became more intensive and symmetrical. Leisure flows, however, do not reveal clear evidence of such development.
