Netherlands: Sluice Gates on Enclosure Dam & IJsselmeer
This photograph shows the sluice gates on the Afsluitdijk, a causeway that created the artificial freshwater lake IJsselmeer. The causeway was completed in 1933 and tamed what was once a problematic harbor in regards to flooding and damage to ships.
