Guidline adherence and survival in locally advanced cervical cancer in the netherlands between 2009 - 2016.

INTRODUCTIONOne third of the cervical cancer patients in the Netherlands is diagnosed with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC). Chemoradiation (CRT) has replaced radiotherapy (RT) as preferred treatment, in the past decades. Alternatively, RT with hyperthermia and radical hysterectomy (RH) are applied. We evaluated trends in guideline adherence and survival since the introduction of CRT as standard of treatment in the national guidelines of 2004.METHODOLOGYPatients diagnosed with LACC (FIGO IB2, IIA2-IVA) between 2005 u2013 2016, were identified from the Netherlands Cancer Registry. Trends (2005 u2013 2007 to 2014 u2013 2016) were analysed with the Cochran-Armitage trend test. Five-year relative survival was calculated and multivariable Poisson regression was applied. Subanalyses for FIGO IB2 (only stage for which all treatment modalities apply) and IIB (most prevalent stage) were conducted.RESULTSu2022 2915 patients (aged 57 u0081
