The 1 km thick evaporitic Permian Zechstein group in the Netherlands is subdivided into 5 halite rich evaporitic sequences including K–Mg salts (polyhalite, kieserite, sylvite, carnallite and bischofite) for which the position in the Zechstein stratigraphy is still poorly constrained.
