Well before his time as chancellor of Bohemia, Peter von Aspelt already managed to claim a prominent position at two different courts. In 1278 we may document his presence in Luxemburg and Trier. later, in the 1280s, he is documented as pyhsician and familiaris at the court Rudolph of Habsburg. Contrary to the common opinion, proposed by the traditional German literature, he was never protonotarius at the royal chancellery of Bohemia.
