In work that brings them from the Arctic to the laboratory, research scientists with the National Center for Atmospheric Research's Atmospheric Chemistry Division study methane production from boreal forests and tundra. After collecting soil samples in the field, the scientists conduct controlled experiments in the laboratory and use their results to develop more refined models of methane production.
