Tendencies and trends in a century of theological education at Western Theological Seminary

The year was 1866. It was the era of President Andrew Johnson and of reconstruction. That tragic day of April 15, 1865 was still vividly imprinted upon the memory of the nation: the day that Lincoln was assassinated. To many people it seemed a horrible and meaningless waste that the world should be deprived of the services and leadership of this great man at such a crucial juncture in history.
