In 2016, the world was depleting natural resources and exceeding the carrying capacity of the earth. To address the environmental impact of the production of food and materials, the Dutch government set for itself the ambition to make the Netherlands circular by 2050. More than 30 years later, we have reached this goal, as society-wide efforts have enabled a much better use of resources and the production of materials that are truly renewable.
