Tourist choice behaviour is a multi-faceted decision making process. It involves the choice of different aspects of the vacation including destination, travel party, duration of the stay, travel mode and so on. Furthermore, these choices seem to be related to socio-demographic characteristics like age, household composition, income, and education and to different stages in the lifecycle. Various studies suggest that travel-related decisions are made at the household level and, moreover, change if household composition changes. This paper reports the main results of the descriptive analysis of vacation choices of a panel of 839 Dutch respondents, collected between 2002 and 2009. Frequency distributions of the main facets of the vacation profiles and how these changed between 2002 and 2009 will be described. In addition, associations with lifecycle will be examined.
