Map showing division of property among the heirs of Cornelius Van Vorst, father of Jersey City Mayor, grandson of Revolutionary era patriot and descendant of original Dutch settler who all shared the same name. He died in 1852.This copy from 1873 was owned by Julia Van Vorst, a daughter; her properties are colored in. The depicted area is in what is now the Heights section of Jersey City, which from 1852 to 1870 was known as Hudson City.
