Dutch doorway, a parade float
The Dutch doorway float was in the 1909 Hudson-Fulton celebration parade in Manhatten. It represented a doorway in New Amsterdam, where family and friends gathered when the Dutch first settled on Manhatten Island. 1679 is prominently displayed on the side of the house.
