'BETWEEN THE RIVERS AND THE OPEN SEA': PERNAMBUCO, THE PORTS AND THE ATLANTIC IN DUTCH BRAZIL.

This article aims to show how important were the harbour of Recife as well as the fluvial navigation during the Dutch ocupation of Pernambuco. We understand also that both aspects presented above (Recife’s harbour and fluvial navigation) were the most important mean in the Dutch setlement process.
