This article is a proposal for a habilitation thesis and follows up a dissertation entitled A Contrastive Description of the Standard Pronunciation of Dutch and Czech from the Perspective of Czech Learners of Dutch. A number of crucial research questions are formulated in the text. First, a survey of the phenomenon of Czech Dutch is provided in this article in order to indicate the potential problems of its understandability for Dutch native speakers.
